Essential information for those visiting from out of town

Welcome to Glendale, Ariz. and your online home base for your tourism information for Glendale’s major sporting events, including the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, BCS Championship and the 2008 Super Bowl.

Glendale’s avenues are everything that makes Arizona one of the most desirable places on earth. We bask in 325 days of sunshine each year. February afternoons flirt with 80 degrees. We’re the proud home of the largest Air Force Training Base in the world. Home of the ultimate in sporting events. Home of one of the nation’s top antique shopping districts. Home to some of the most educated, hardest working, physically active and civically conscious residents in this Grand Canyon State.

We’re also famous for our festivals—from the Jazz and Blues Fest, a weekend packed with the smooth sounds of some of the region’s greatest jazz musicians, to the Glendale Glitters Holiday Lights Spectacular, which evokes a glow from the city beginning the day after Thanksgiving lasting through mid-January with a million multicolored lights creating a sparkling canopy over 10 square blocks.

We’re famous for convincing people to move to the Grand Canyon State. But we’re not asking you to take that kind of plunge. Not yet. Just visit.

Stadium. Alien technology, state-of-the-art contemporary architecture, call it what you want, but our new University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. is the coolest national sports facility around. A perfect marriage of liquid and steel, this one-of-a-kind sporting facility is the first on the continent to feature both a retractable roof and retractable playing field. Designed by world-renowned architect Peter Eisenman to mimic the sections of the native barrel cactus, the stadium fits together like a pleasing Sonoran puzzle and showers the interior with the perfect dose of natural light.

You might want to hurry in to tour the architecture now, however, because come opening day, attention will be stolen by the non-stop, helmet-to-helmet gridiron action taking the field. A Super Bowl in 2008, Fiesta Bowls beginning in 2007 as well as a BCS Championship—this stadium will be turning heads from all corners of the earth, and roaring fans and growling linemen will soon echo in the desert for generations. Jobing.com Arena. Not many venues can be all things to all people, but the award-winning Jobing.com Arena is a bold exception to that type of thinking. Born Dec. 27, 2003, to a howling house of rabid Coyotes fans, the Arena has been heralded by headline performers like U2, Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney and named best new major concert venue by Pollstar magazine, a major concert industry publication.

Showcasing state-of-the-art video technology, a pulsating sound system and seating arrangements that guarantee clear views from all points, the facility has been an ideal host for everything from intimate, rare acoustic performances to chart-topping, televised concert extravaganzas. And to top things off, it also just happens to be home to an NHL team coached by the game’s greatest player of all time—Wayne Gretzky. CLICK HERE for more information.
